Very quietly and without fanfare, ANSI (the American National Standards Institute) revised the standard relating to first aid in the workplace. ANSI Z308.1-2009 has been replaced by ANSI Z308.1-2015.

The previous (ANSI Z308.1-2009) standard listed ten items that were required as minimum contents for a workplace first aid kit. The new standard adds more items, bringing the required item total to 18 (for Class A kits). The new standard also calls for the kits to be labeled with specific wordage.
The other notable change is that
latex is to be eliminated from first aid altogether.
The ANSI Z308.1-2015 Standard now has two similar but separate lists for two classes of kits: Class A and Class B:
Caution! This kit meets ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2015 only when required minimum fill is maintained with usable products.
The described kit may be suitable for some businesses. However, the adequacy of the contents for hazards of each work environment should always be evaluated by competent personnel. For a variety of operations, employers may find that additional first aid supplies and kits are needed.
These items are intended to be the absolute minimum for a workplace first aid kit. Depending on the potential for injury, a more complete kit may be necessary. OSHA recommendations do not include an
automated external defibrillator (AED), but current emergency cardiac care guidelines from the American Heart Association recommend AEDs in most public places.
